Prueba: Mazda CX-70 del 2025, se destaca por su elegante estilo

Mazda, el fabricante de automóviles conocido por sus roadsters y utilitarios deportivos, sigue completando su gama de SUV para satisfacer la demanda de los consumidores. El último es el nuevo CX-70 del 2025, que se sitúa entre el CX-50, más pequeño, y el CX-90, mediano con tres filas de asientos.

Al igual que el CX-90, el CX-70 destaca por su estilo elegante y su conducción divertida. Quizá no sea una sorpresa, ya que el CX-70 es un CX-90 al que se le ha quitado el asiento de la tercera fila. Como tales, tienen un aspecto similar desde el exterior, comparten idénticos sistemas de propulsión híbridos e híbridos enchufables y, en general, tienen las mismas características.

Estilos y opciones

El Mazda CX-70 del 2025 es un SUV mediano para cinco pasajeros disponible en tres modelos que se distinguen principalmente por sus motorizaciones: 3.3 Turbo, 3.3 Turbo S y el híbrido enchufable PHEV.

Dentro de estos modelos, hay tres paquetes: Paquete Preferred, Paquete Premium y Paquete Premium Plus. Yo probé el Mazda CX 70 PHEV Premiun Plus.

Tren de potencia

El CX-70 PHEV cuenta con un motor de cuatro cilindros y 2,5 litros asociado a un sistema híbrido enchufable. La potencia combinada es de 323 caballos de fuerza y 369 libras pie de torque. Mazda calcula que recorrerá unos 26 kilómetros con energía totalmente eléctrica antes de pasar al funcionamiento híbrido normal.

Todos los CX-70 utilizan una transmisión automática de ocho velocidades que envía la potencia a las cuatro ruedas.

Estilo interior

El PHEV Premium Plus tiene algunas características más que las versiones Premium, tales como: Tapicería de cuero Premium, volante con calefacción y asientos delanteros ventilados.

Mazda ha maximizado el espacio de carga del CX-70 PHEV incluyendo elementos inteligentes como asientos traseros abatibles a distancia, ganchos para bolsas y un diseño de maletero inferior que permite guardar objetos de valor fuera de la vista.

Tecnología

La pantalla central de info-entretenimiento de 12,3 pulgadas de Mazda incluye una pantalla táctil situada en lo alto del salpicadero, pero también puede controlarse con un mando físico situado más abajo.

El CX-70 es el primer crossover de Mazda con Alexa Built-In, que ofrece comandos manos libres para funciones como cambiar la temperatura del sistema de ventilación. Otras características estándar incluyen Apple CarPlay y Android Auto inalámbricos y un sistema de sonido Bose de 12 altavoces.

Los conductores disponen de un cuadro de instrumentos totalmente digital de 12,3 pulgadas con un Head-up Display.

Seguridad

Otras tecnologías incluyen control de crucero por radar, sensores de aparcamiento delanteros y traseros, reconocimiento de señales de tráfico y sistemas de asistencia al conductor como el Unresponsive Driver Support, que puede detectar a un conductor insensible y detener automáticamente el vehículo en el arcén si es necesario.

El modelo superior tiene aún más, con menciones notables como un monitor de 360 grados con visión transparente y vista de enganche de remolque.

En carretera

Para una conducción urbana general, como la que imaginamos que harán la mayoría de los compradores del CX-70 con sus autos, es un medio de transporte perfectamente adecuado.

El indicador dinámico de potencia facilita la permanencia en el modo EV según se desees y muestra el punto exacto en el que el pie derecho activará el motor de combustión interna. El cambio está lejos de ser elegante, pero una vez que cada parte del tren motriz se pone a trabajar, las cosas no se sienten tan torpes.

Algunos PHEV no permiten cargar la batería de forma apreciable durante el viaje. Lo cual está bien, enchufar la batería es lo mejor, pero tener la opción no está de más, y Mazda está encantada de complacerte. Basta con pulsar un botón en la consola central. Y, a diferencia de otros, Mazda incluso te permite establecer un porcentaje máximo de carga, de modo que si sólo necesitas la última mitad de la batería para llegar a casa desde la autopista, puedes pedir al sistema que cargue y mantenga sólo esa cantidad en reserva.

Sin embargo, no esperes que la carga sea rápida: como el motor sigue teniendo que mover el CX-70, sólo extrae un poco de energía para cargar la batería, lo que significa que puede que sólo añadas unos pocos kilómetros de autonomía EV en una hora de conducción por autopista.

Conclusión

Puede que el departamento de marketing de Mazda haya ganado la guerra para hacer del CX-70 su propio modelo, en lugar de una simple caja opcional para el CX-90. No importa, el CX-70 es una especie de extraño intermedio. Sin embargo, el CX-70 es más difícil de manejar que un dos filas de tamaño adecuado, y la eliminación de la tercera fila no libera ningún espacio de almacenamiento apreciable, aunque se limita a cinco ocupantes como máximo. Para bien o para mal, no hay nada igual.
