Una amiga muy cercana es fanática del Botox y me convenció de que hiciera una cita con su doctor. Cuando entré al consultorio, pensé que me equivoqué de oficina, pues las tres mujeres sentadas en la sala de espera no pasaban de los 28 años de edad.
Saludé al médico, pero de primera instancia no le hablé de mis “patitas de gallo”, ni tampoco de las mil muecas que a veces hago; sino le pregunté muy curiosa, qué hacían aquellas “muchachitas” allí. Me explicó que están llegando muchas jóvenes a su consultorio de cirugía plástica y procedimientos cosméticos.
Todas buscan tener en la vida real, las opciones mágicas de Instagram, como aumento de pómulos, rellenos de labios, afinamiento del rostro, nariz estilizada y piel de porcelana.
Y es que, seamos sinceras, esos filtros nos hacen sentir como diosas bellas, no importa si se tienen 20, 40 o 50 años. De hecho, yo también los uso en mis redes. Pero una cosa es usarlos y otra es pedirle a un cirujano que te cambie para lucir como te ves con cierto filtro.
¿Cómo es posible que una jovencita que aún no tiene una arruga plasmada en su rostro, actúe así? Investigué sobre la actual obsesión por belleza perfecta y descubrí que los números relacionados a esta “nueva adicción” son alarmantes. Ocho de cada diez niñas adolescentes usan filtros la mayoría del tiempo.
Y el 20 por ciento de los usuarios de Instagram ya no publican fotos sin usar filtro, según un estudio de la Universidad de Surrey, en Inglaterra. Mientras un 37 por ciento prefiere su rostro con un filtro a su cara real con ciertas “imperfecciones”.
Lo más preocupante son esas chicas que empiezan la vida pensando ser mejores tras un filtro. Irónicamente, en una sociedad donde parece tener más que nunca mujeres poderosas, nos damos cuenta que algo tan “glamoroso” como un filtro se está robando la seguridad de muchas. Y cuando se supone que el grado de autoestima en la adolescencia determine la calidad de vida en la edad adulta.
Finalmente, me puse el botox aquél día y ahora me pregunto, cuántas jovencitas más veré en la sala de espera cuando regrese por un retoque en el 2022…iOjalá sean puras cuarentonas, para arriba!
