Oklahoma CareerTech conference recognizes Metro Tech employees with awards


OKLAHOMA CITY – Metro Tech employees were recently recognized for their commitment to career and technical education during CareerTech’s 2021 Oklahoma Summit Conference.The Gold Star award was also presented to Metro Tech for demonstrating a high level of excellence.

 

• Anita Parks, coordinator for Professional Development, received the 2021 OkACTE Dennis L. Portis III Rising Star award for New & Related Services (NRS) division.

 

• Janet Portwood, Pre-Engineering Academy and Lead the Way teacher, received the 2021 OkACTE Dennis L. Portis III Rising Star award for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) division.

 

• Lamont Harris, adult instruction coordinator for Economic & Workforce Development, received the 2021 OkACTE Outstanding New Professional award.

 

• Reinaldo Diaz, director for Economic and Workforce Development, was a nominee for 2021 OkACTE Administrator of the Year for the Business Marketing, Information Technology Education (BITE) division.

 

• Harrison Wolohon, Digital Cinema career program teacher, was a nominee for the 2021 OkACTE Teacher of the Year in the Trades & Industry Division

 

• Amanda English, Basic Police Officer Certification (BPOC) instructor and coordinator, received the 2021 ACTE National Teacher of the Year award.

 

 For the 15th year, Metro Tech was honored with the Gold Star award for demonstrating a high level of excellence. This is awarded to exemplary technology centers throughout the state who have met rigid and demanding criteria and continue to meet a broad spectrum of community and workforce and economic development needs.
