Correcciones de Oklahoma incauta millones en contrabando
A través de un comunicado de prensa el Departamento de Correcciones de Oklahoma dio a conocer que incautó millones de dólares en contrabando durante 2025 como parte de los esfuerzos continuos para proteger al personal, a los internos y al público, y para interrumpir actividades ilegales dentro de las instalaciones penitenciarias estatales.
El comunicado remarca que las incautaciones son resultado de esfuerzos conjuntos del personal de la instalación y la Oficina del Inspector General. Se confiscó contrabando a internos, empleados e individuos que intentaban introducir objetos ilegales en instalaciones mediante visitas, drones, lanzamientos perimetrales y otros métodos.
En 2025, el ODOC confiscó:
•Metanfetamina: 48 libras – valor estimado de la prisión 2.177.243 dólares
•Marihuana: 261 libras – valor estimado en prisión 1.657.427 $
•Cera de THC: 50 libras – valor estimado en prisión 317.515 $
•Fentanilo: 7 libras – valor estimado en prisión 1.905.090 $
•Tabaco: 1.614 libras – valor estimado de la prisión 483.185 dólares
• K2 (cannabinoides sintéticos): 27 libras – valor estimado en prisión de 2.755.573 dólares (dependiendo del tipo de papel, esto equivale aproximadamente a 500 a 2.700 hojas, con 93 unidades de dosificación por hoja tamaño carta.)
•Teléfonos móviles: 6.715 dispositivos – valor estimado en prisión 9.401.000 dólares
•Armas improvisadas: 3.478 objetos
•Valor total incautado: 18.697.033 $
"Estas incautaciones representan miles de oportunidades para prevenir la violencia, las sobredosis y la actividad criminal dentro de nuestras instalaciones", dijo el director del ODOC, Justin Farris. "También reflejan la constante vigilancia de nuestro personal e investigadores que trabajan cada día para identificar amenazas y detener el contrabando antes de que cause daño."
ODOC informo que además de las incautaciones, el ODOC arrestó a 83 personas en 2025 por intentar introducir contrabando en centros penitenciarios. De esas detenciones, 42 implicaron visitantes que pretendían contrabandear durante las visitas de los internos. Además, 14 miembros del personal del ODOC fueron arrestados por intentar introducir contrabando, lo que pone de manifiesto la dedicación de la agencia a la rendición de cuentas en todos los niveles.
“El contrabando sigue siendo una de las amenazas más significativas para la seguridad dentro de los centros penitenciarios, contribuyendo a la violencia, el tráfico de drogas y la actividad criminal organizada. El ODOC continúa reforzando los esfuerzos de interdicción mediante investigaciones basadas en inteligencia, búsquedas reforzadas, alianzas con las fuerzas del orden y el uso de tecnología de seguridad en evolución”
Se informo también que el ODOC introdujo el correo digital en septiembre de 2024, el cual ha tenido mucho éxito. En septiembre de 2025, todos los productos de papel externos fueron prohibidos en las instalaciones para ayudar a prevenir la entrada de K2 y otros productos de contrabando. Esta norma se aplicaba al personal, visitantes y voluntarios, y ha sido muy eficaz. La agencia está ahora explorando opciones para convertir el correo legal a formato digital manteniendo las protecciones de privacidad requeridas.
"Cada convulsión importa", dijo el director Farris. "Eliminar el contrabando protege a nuestros empleados, apoya instalaciones más seguras y refuerza nuestra responsabilidad hacia el público. Mantener el contrabando fuera de nuestras instalaciones es una batalla tremenda, y nuestro personal hace un trabajo excelente."
