La Cámara de Representantes de Oklahoma honra a Cristo Rey Senior Luis Del Angel

OKLAHOMA CITY – La representante Tammy West, republicana de Oklahoma City, homenajeó a Luis Del Angel, estudiante de último curso en la escuela secundaria Católica Cristo Rey- Oklahoma City, por su servicio lesgislativo en la Cámara de Representantes de Oklahoma.

Cada año, cientos de estudiantes de penúltimo y cuarto curso de todo el estado participan en el Programa de la Cámara en el Capitolio del Estado de Oklahoma. A través de este programa, los estudiantes obtienen una visión directa del proceso legislativo y obtienen valiosas perspectivas sobre cómo funciona el gobierno estatal.

Del Angel planea asistir a la Universidad Estatal de Oklahoma para estudiar ingeniería aeroespacial y seguir una carrera en la industria aeroespacial. Estudiante destacado, es miembro de la National Honor Society y es AP Scholar con Distinción. Del Angel también es campeón estatal de remo y participa en clubes de fútbol. Además, es tesorero en el consejo estudiantil y miembro de la Junta Juvenil.

"Luis es un joven excepcional cuya dedicación a los estudios, el liderazgo y la implicación comunitaria es realmente impresionante", dijo West. "Ejemplifica el talento y la motivación que ayudarán a mantener a Oklahoma competitiva en industrias altamente cualificadas como la aeroespacial”

A los estudiantes aceptados en el programa se les asigna una semana durante la sesión legislativa, que va desde el primer lunes de febrero hasta el último viernes de mayo. Llegan los domingos por la tarde y sirven de lunes a jueves en la Cámara durante la sesión diaria. Los estudiantes también ayudan a representantes y personal con tareas y participan en la Legislatura Simulada de la Cámara.

La representante Tammy West, republicana, representa el Distrito 84 de la Cámara en la Cámara de Representantes de Oklahoma. Su distrito incluye partes de Oklahoma City, Bethany y Warr Acres.

Oklahoma House of Representatives Honors Cristo Rey Senior Luis Del Angel

OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Tammy West, R-Oklahoma City, honored Luis Del Angel, a senior at Cristo Rey Oklahoma City Catholic High School, for his service as a Page at the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Each year, hundreds of juniors and seniors from around the state take part in the House High School Page Program at the Oklahoma State Capitol. Through this program, students get a firsthand look at the legislative process and gain valuable insights into how state government operates.

Del Angel plans to attend Oklahoma State University to study aerospace engineering and pursue a career in the aerospace industry. An accomplished student, he is a member of the National Honor Society and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. Del Angel is also a state champion rower and participates in soccer, cross country and drama club. Additionally, he serves as treasurer on student council and is a member of the ReMerge Teen Board.

"Luis is an outstanding young man whose dedication to academics, leadership and community involvement is truly impressive," West said. "He exemplifies the talent and drive that will help keep Oklahoma competitive in high-skill industries like aerospace. It was an honor to host him as a Page this week, and I look forward to following his career."

Students who are accepted to the program are assigned to one week during the legislative session, which runs from the first Monday in February through the last Friday in May. They arrive on Sunday afternoon and serve Monday through Thursday in the House Chamber during daily session. Pages also assist representatives and staff with tasks and participate in the House Page Mock Legislature on the floor of the House Chamber.

Rep. Tammy West, a Republican, represents House District 84 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Her district includes portions of Oklahoma City, Bethany and Warr Acres.
