Gobernador de Oklahoma firma Propuesta para aumentar los límites de Velocidad en Turnpikes y Autopistas

OKLAHOMA CITY – El gobernador Kevin Stitt firmó un proyecto de ley que aumentará el límite de velocidad en los turnpikes de Oklahoma de 75 a 80 millas por hora y en ciertas autopistas estatales de 70 a 75 millas por hora.

El representante Daniel PAE, R-Lawton, es el autor de House Bill 1071. El senador John Michael Montgomery, R-Lawton, es el autor de la propuesta en el Senado.

PAE, quien sirve su primer mandato en la legislatura, dijo que trabajó con el Departamento de transporte de Oklahoma, la autoridad de peaje de Oklahoma (Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, en inglés) y la patrulla de autopistas de Oklahoma para describir los cambios y obtener su apoyo. 

"Al aumentar el límite de velocidad en nuestros turnpikes y autopistas estatales, también trabajamos para garantizar la seguridad de los conductores de Oklahoma."

"Si bien queríamos aumentar el límite de velocidad en nuestros turnpikes y autopistas estatales, también trabajamos para garantizar la seguridad de los conductores de Oklahoma", dijo PAE. "Usaremos el tráfico y los estudios de ingeniería que tomen en consideración cosas como la densidad del tráfico y la calidad de la infraestructura para determinar dónde podríamos aumentar con seguridad estos límites de velocidad."

PAE dijo que los límites de velocidad en el proyecto de ley se implementarán gradualmente, con sensatez y seguridad.

PAE también trabajó con el Departamento de transporte de Oklahoma y el secretario de transporte de Oklahoma para incluir el lenguaje en el proyecto de ley relativo a los estudios de tráfico para mantener el estado en línea con las regulaciones federales para que podamos seguir recibiendo la ayuda financiera federal para carreteras. Esta fue la primera propuesta de PAE en ser firmada en ley.

Governor Signs Bill to Increase Speed Limits on Turnpikes, Highways

OKLAHOMA CITY – Gov. Kevin Stitt today signed a bill into law that will increase the speed limit on Oklahoma turnpikes from 75 to 80 miles per hour and on certain state highways from 70 to 75 miles per hour.

Rep. Daniel Pae, R-Lawton, is the House author of House Bill 1071. Sen. John Michael Montgomery, R-Lawton, is the Senate author.

Pae, serving his first term in the Legislature, said he worked with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on the language of the bill and gained their support. He joked the bill had become known as the Pae-Way Bill.

“While we wanted to increase the speed limit on our turnpikes and state highways, we also worked to ensure the safety of Oklahoma drivers,” Pae said. “We will use traffic and engineering studies that take into consideration things such as traffic density and infrastructure quality to determine where we could safely increase these speed limits.”

Pae said the speed limits in the bill will be implemented gradually, sensibly and safely.

Pae also worked with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Secretary of Transportation to include language in the bill pertaining to traffic studies to keep the state in line with federal regulations so we can continue to receive federal highway dollars. This was Pae’s first bill to be signed into law.
