October OKC Fairgrounds Events Generate Millions


Oklahoma City, OK – While adhering to pandemic protocols, the Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show took place at the OKC Fairgrounds October 10 through 17. Competitors took to the Jim Norick Arena to participate in the annual event. Ninety percent of attendees traveled from out-of-town, while ten percent were locals.

Non-public attendance for the event exceeded 46,000, generating more than $10.29 million worth of direct spending into the Oklahoma City economy. Braum’s An Affair of the Heart took place at the OKC Fairgrounds October 23 through 25. In order to accommodate appropriate social distancing, shoppers perused booths set-up across four buildings at the OKC Fairgrounds. Ninety-seven percent of event attendees were local, while three percent came from out-of-town. Although far less than their normal number due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance for this shopping event exceeded 16,000 and generated more than $1.34 million worth of direct spending into the Oklahoma City economy.

The OKC Fairgrounds hosted a total of nine events during the month of October. In addition to the above mentioned, other events included: Fair Food at the Fairgrounds!, the R. K. Gun Show, OKC Gun Show, OKC Hazardous Household Waste Collection, Oklahoman Career Fair, the CVB Commission Meeting, and Oklahoma Gun Shows. In all, while maintaining COVID-19 protocols, there were 82,080 visitors present during the October events that were held at the OKC Fairgrounds, generating more than $13.17 million in direct spending into the Oklahoma City economy. The 2020 OKC Home Show & Outdoor Living Show, Oklahoma Oil & Gas Expo, and the OKC Model Railroad Expo were scheduled to take place in October but were canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.
