OKCPS ALIENTA A LOS ESTUDIANTES EN LOS GRADOS GRADOS 8, 9 Y 10 A APLICAR AL PROGRAMA OKLAHOMA'S PROMISE

(Oklahoma City, OK) - OKCPS alienta a los estudiantes actuales de octavo, noveno y décimo grado a que consideren aplicar para el programa de Oklahoma's Promise antes de que finalice el año escolar. Oklahoma's Promise, un programa administrado por los Regentes del Estado de Oklahoma para la Educación Superior, ofrece a los estudiantes calificados de familias con un ingreso anual de $55,000 o menos y con un promedio de 2.5 o superior, la oportunidad de obtener una beca de matrícula universitaria en cualquier institución del estado.

“Oklahoma's Promise se alinea perfectamente con nuestra misión de brindar acceso equitativo a una educación de clase mundial,” dijo el superintendente de OKCPS, Dr. Sean McDaniel. “Si un estudiante de OKCPS quiere continuar su educación asistiendo a la universidad y cumple con los requisitos, Oklahoma’s Promise es un gran programa para ayudarlo a hacer realidad ese sueño. Nuestro estado está invirtiendo de manera proactiva en su futuro, y espero que nuestras familias de los grados 8°, 9° y 10° aprovechen esta increíble oportunidad."

Los residentes de Oklahoma en los grados octavo, noveno y décimo que cumplan con los requisitos de ingresos y también tengan un promedio de calificaciones de al menos 2.5, deben visitar www.okpromise.org para obtener más información sobre el programa. Es especialmente importante que los estudiantes que actualmente cursan el décimo grado se inscriban en este programa antes de su último día de clases en mayo de 2021 para cumplir con la fecha límite en la que pueden aplicar.

"Queremos que todos los niños de Oklahoma City Public Schools vayan a la universidad y no queremos que el costo de la matrícula sea un obstáculo," dijo el alcalde de Oklahoma City, David Holt.

OKCPS ENCOURAGES ELIGIBLE 8TH, 9TH AND 10TH GRADERS TO APPLY FOR OKLAHOMA’S PROMISE

(Oklahoma City, OK) - OKCPS is encouraging current 8th, 9th and 10th grade students to consider applying for Oklahoma’s Promise before the end of the school year. Oklahoma’s Promise, a program administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, offers qualified students with a GPA of 2.5 or above from families with a yearly income of $55,000 or less the opportunity to earn a college tuition scholarship to any institution in the state. 

“Oklahoma’s Promise aligns perfectly with our mission of providing equitable access to a world-class education,” said OKCPS Superintendent Dr. Sean McDaniel. “If an OKCPS student wants to continue their education by attending college and they meet the qualifications, Oklahoma’s Promise is a great program to help make that dream a reality. Our state is proactively investing in their future, and I hope our 8th, 9th, and 10th grade families will take advantage of this incredible opportunity!”

Oklahoma residents in 8th, 9th and 10th grades who meet income and GPA requirements should visit www.okpromise.org to learn more about the program. It is especially important that students currently in 10th grade sign up for this program before their last day of school in May 2021 in order to meet the state’s qualification deadline.  

“We want every kid in Oklahoma City Public Schools to go to college and we don’t want tuition to be a barrier,” said Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt.
