Nathaniel Harding Lanza Candidatura para Consejo Municipal - Distrito 6

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Voluntario de la comunidad y pequeño empresario, Nathaniel Harding, anunció su candidatura para el Consejo Municipal-Distrito 6 de la ciudad de Oklahoma.

En una convesación durante su vista a las oficinas del periódico El Latino American, pudimos conocer un poco más de este entusiasta candidato quien compartio con nosotros las razones de su candidature. Aquí la entrevista:

Nathaniel, ¿qué le motivó a presentar su candidatura?

R: “Me postulo para el Consejo Municipal porque todo el mundo merece vivir, trabajar y criar su familia en un hogar seguro, inclusive y una comunidad próspera” dijo Harding. “ Nuestra ciudad ha hecho grandes progresos,, pero no hemos terminado. Trabajando juntos, podemos hacer más para fortalecer nuestras escuelas, mejorar el transporte público, diversificar nuestra economía y ayudar a nuestra ciudad a vivir hasta su máximo potencial.”

Pero, ¿quién es Nathaniel? ¿dónde naciste?

R: "Nací y crecí en Oklahoma, he vivido aquí toda mi vida. Mi esposa, Amanda, y yo nos casamos en la iglesia católica St. James y actualmente asistimos a la iglesia católica de San Francisco. Tengo 3 hijos."

Sabemos que has apoyado proyectos como MAPS 3 

R: Efectivamente, en el 2010 fuí nombrado a la Junta Consultiva de Maps 3. También les comparto que fuí capitán en la fuerza aérea y en el 2012 fuí enviado a Kabul- Afghanistan, sede conjunta US/NATO.

Sabemos que has sido voluntario ayudando a organizaciones sin fines de lucro, ¿qué significa esto para ti?

R: "Servicio público es más que un punto de conversación para mí, es algo que he hecho por años y lo seguiré haciendo durante años sin importar el resultado de esta elección. Oklahoma City es mi hogar. Me encanta su gente, la diversidad y resilencia. Hemos visto la punta del iceberg de esta ciudad si nos centramos en el crecimiento inteligente que protege lo que nos gusta de nuestra ciudad mientras aprendemos de los éxitos y errores de otras ciudades.”

Nathaniel participa con liderazgo OKC, Fundación para las escuelas públicas de OKC, Comtemporary Oklahoma, Rotary, Capitol Hill High School Academia de ingeniería y la cámara de comercio de OKC. Nathaniel ha recibido honores "40 under 40" de OKC Biz, y de revista de Oklahoma. También es un voluntario activo con organizaciones como Homeless Alliance  y miembro del Consejo Estatal de fuerza de trabajo y desarrollo económico que ayuda a miles de habitantes de Oklahoma a regresar a ser productivos.

Nathaniel Harding Files Official Paperwork for Oklahoma City Council Ward 6

Oklahoma City.-Community volunteer and small business owner, Nathaniel Harding, announced his candidacy for Oklahoma City’s Ward 6 on Monday with the Oklahoma County Election Board.

“I’m running for City Council because everyone deserves to live, work, and raise their family in a safe, inclusive, and forward-thinking community,” Harding said. “Our city has made great progress, but we are not done. Working together, we can do more to strengthen our schools, improve public transportation, diversify our economy, and help our city live up to its full potential.”

Nathaniel and his wife, Amanda, have three children: Maggie, Lucy, and Jack. The couple was married at St. James Catholic Church and currently attend St. Francis Catholic Church.

In 2010, Nathaniel was appointed to the MAPS 3 Advisory Board. Nathaniel was also a Captain in the Air Force Reserves, and in 2012 was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan at the US/NATO joint headquarters.

“Public service is more than a talking point for me, it’s something I’ve done for years and will continue to do for years to come regardless of the outcome of this election. Oklahoma City is home. I love it’s people, diversity, and resilience,” stated Harding. “We’ve seen the tip of the iceberg for this city if we focus on smart growth that protects what we love about our city while learning from the successes and mistakes of other cities.”

Nathaniel is involved with Leadership OKC, Foundation for OKC Public Schools, Oklahoma Contemporary, Rotary, Capitol Hill High School Engineering Academy and the OKC Chamber of Commerce. Nathaniel has received “40 under 40” honors from OKC Biz, Journal Record, and Oklahoma Magazine. He’s also an active community volunteer with non-profits such as the Homeless Alliance and chairs a statewide council on workforce and economic development that helps thousands of Oklahomans get back on their feet with employment.

Nathaniel holds two bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Russian from the University of Oklahoma, and he earned his MBA from Oklahoma City University.

Ward 6 encompasses southwest and central Oklahoma City.
