Necesidad de mejores políticas fronterizas y de inmigración

PHARR, TEXAS — El jefe Andy Harvey de Pharr, Texas, en la frontera con Reynosa, México, es un nuevo copresidente del Grupo de Trabajo de Inmigración de las Fuerzas De Aplicación de la Ley.

Harvey actualmente se desempeña como Jefe de Policía y Administrador de la Ciudad de Pharr y ha hablado abiertamente sobre la necesidad de mejores políticas fronterizas y de inmigración, incluso en un testimonio ante el Comité Judicial del Senado sobre la policía y la inmigración en 2019.

Asume su papel de liderazgo en un momento crucial para las reformas fronterizas y de inmigración. En una encuesta a principios de este año, aproximadamente 4 de cada 5 encuestados dijeron que apoyarían a "republicanos y demócratas que trabajan juntos en reformas migratorias que fortalezcan la seguridad fronteriza, creen un camino hacia la ciudadanía para los inmigrantes indocumentados que llegaron a los Estados Unidos cuando eran niños y garantizarían una fuerza laboral legal y confiable para los agricultores y ganaderos de Estados Unidos".

"Lo que realmente está ocurriendo en nuestras comunidades locales es importante para la conversación más amplia en torno a la inmigración. Todos estamos menos seguros sin reformas migratorias de sentido común y una seguridad fronteriza práctica y efectiva.

Trabajemos juntos para hacer que nuestra nación sea más segura", dijo el jefe Andy Harvey de Pharr, Texas.

"Los más de 26 años de experiencia en servicio público y liderazgo del jefe Harvey, que abarcan puestos en la aplicación de la ley, el ejército y el gobierno de la ciudad, así como su experiencia en inmigración son activos bienvenidos a medida que se une al liderazgo del grupo de trabajo", dijo el sheriff Ed González del condado de Harris, Texas.

Los compañeros copresidentes del Jefe Harvey son el Sheriff Ed González (Condado de Harris, Texas) y la Sheriff Margaret Mims (Condado de Fresno, California).
